Representing tens of thousands of forensic examiners and accountants worldwide, the Institute is committed to reducing business fraud, developing and promoting the profession of forensic accountancy, and inspiring public confidence in the integrity of the profession.
The ICFA actively promotes the dissemination of forensic information and the continued advancement of forensic accounting and consultation across the many professional fields of membership. The ICFA believes that forensic examiners and accountants must seek only the truth when conducting investigations, evaluations, and examinations and must report only the true results of their findings in an unbiased and objective manner.

Part of ICFA’s mission is to help detect business fraud and reduce its incidence and to assist the members in fraud detection and deterrence. To accomplish this mission, ICFA:
- Provides bona fide qualifications for Certified Forensic Accountants through the administration of the CrFA® Examination
- Sets high standards for admission, including demonstrated competence through mandatory continuing professional education
- Requires CrFAs to adhere to a strict code of professional conduct and ethics
- Provides leadership to inspire public confidence in the integrity, objectivity, and professionalism of Certified Forensic Accountants.
